Cambridge Morphogenesis Symposium 2026:
Morpho5ymposium
On Friday 5th June 2026, we were delighted to host the Cambridge Morphogenesis Symposium 2026 at the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge. This year’s symposium was a particularly special one for us, as it marked five years of the Cambridge Morphogenesis Seminar Series going live online. To celebrate this milestone, we invited several past committee members to return as speakers, including a talk reflecting on the history and growth of the series. It was wonderful to see familiar faces reconnecting, new conversations beginning, and the wider morphogenesis community coming together both in person and online.
We are immensely grateful to all of our sponsors – British Society for Developmental Biology (BSDB), The Company of Biologists, Development, Thistle Scientific, VectorBuilder, Laser2000, CliniSciences, and New England Biolabs – whose generous support made this event possible and helped it run so smoothly. Their contributions meant that, for the first time, we were able to offer enabling participation grants to support travel for early-career researchers who may not otherwise have been able to attend. We were especially delighted that two of the grant recipients went on to receive poster prizes on the day! Many thanks to Development for kindly sponsoring the poster prizes, and to the Sainsbury Laboratory for hosting us in such a welcoming venue.
Finally, we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the symposium happen – the symposium organising committee, the Cambridge Morphogenesis Seminar Series organisers who volunteered their time on the day, our speakers, poster presenters, chairs, attendees, and all those who contributed to the lively discussions throughout the event. We hope the symposium provided a platform not only to share exciting morphogenesis research, but also to catch up with old colleagues, meet new ones, and strengthen connections across our community.

Hybrid Seminars 2024
In recent months, we have been dedicated to hosting more hybrid seminars aimed at fostering engagement and creating networking opportunities within the morphogenesis community.
We are immensely grateful for the continued and generous sponsorship from the Cambridge Centre of Physical Biology (CPB), which has been instrumental in supporting our in-person events. This Michaelmas term, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Madelaine Bartlett from the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge, and Professor Roberto Mayor from University College London. We enjoyed insightful discussions with them over lunch and nibbles, allowing us to better understand their remarkable work.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Department of Genetics and the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience for graciously hosting our talks and tea breaks.
Stay connected with us on Twitter/X and Bluesky for updates about future in-person events – we hope to see you there!

The First Cambridge Morphogenesis Symposium 2023
On Monday 11th September 2023, we hosted our first symposium at the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge! Kindly sponsored by The Company of Biologists, Development, Cambridge Centre of Physical Biology (CPB), and Research Themes in the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Cambridge, we heard exciting talks from morphogenesis enthusiasts from a wide range of research backgrounds and gave out four prizes to brilliant poster presentees.
Many thanks to everyone who attended in-person and online! We hope you have enjoyed the symposium as much as we did.
